"No one has to teach human empathy, beyond the instruction from parents, when we understand little, with the intention of making you fit for the society of man, and not being uncontrollable in the family environment, IE we don't hit, share your toys, no, you can't just grab something off the grocery store rack and not pay for it, how do you think what you did made your brother/sister feel?, etc. Religion, essentially, has nothing to do with that, and it is taught well before you could even understand one, or the ethic of reciprocity. That teaching happens, even in atheist families. Religion did not invent ANY morality, they co opted it as the carrot to their dogma and authority stick.."
